Govt. owned – Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) conducted an auction on 21 Apr’21 for 6,400 t (52 & 60 kg-full length) commercial rails from its Bhilai Steel Plant, Chhattisgarh. Buyers booked 4,800 t (rail 60 kg) at a weighted average price of INR 38,250 /t and 1,600 t (rail 52 kg) at INR 41,500/t exw. As per data maintained with SteelMint, bids increased by INR 4,000/t in 60kg rails. In the previous auction conducted on 18 Mar’21, out of the total 9,300 t, buyers booked only 300 t (rail 60 kg) at a weighted average price of INR 34,250 /t exw.
