Pakistan’s scrap imports drop by 13% m-o-m in Mar’21

South Asia’s prominent ferrous scrap importers- Pakistan has recorded a drop in monthly ferrous scrap import volumes by 13%. Pakistan’s scrap imports stood at 0.33 mn t in Mar’21 against 0.38 mn t in the previous month, as per the data maintained with SteelMint. Fewer smaller mills in Pakistan remained active in procuring domestic scrap and hence resulted in limited imports. However, amid tightening domestic scrap supplies, imports may rise next month.
