Japan’s leading EAF mill – Tokyo Steel has announced a hike in scrap purchase price today for all five works by up to JPY 1,500/t ($14). This is the company’s second price hike announcement this week. The company would pay price of JPY 44,000/t ($403) and JPY 42,000/t ($385) respectively for H2 scrap delivered at Tahara and Utsunomiya works. Hike in scrap export prices and improved in domestic demand has resulted in price hike in domestic market.
