Bangladesh steel coil imports down by 6% m-o-m in Mar ’21

Bangladesh steel coil imports declined by 6% in Mar ’21 to 69,578 t in contrast with 73,796 t in Feb ’21. However, the same jumped up by 46% on yearly basis as against 47,709 t in CPLY. In Mar ’21, Japan was the leading exporter of steel coils to Bangladesh at 59,230 t followed by Indonesia at 10,348 t. Limited export allocations and higher prices could have resulted in lower imports. Bangladesh imported nearly 1 mn t steel coils in CY ’20.
