Indian sponge iron export demand remains active on firm offers

SteelMint’s weekly benchmark sponge iron export price assessment remained unchanged in fresh deals of around 12,000 t through the Eastern India based exporters. The recent trades have been reported at around $390/t CPT Benapole, equivalent to $410/t CFR Chittagong, Bangladesh. While, in the last week, around 10,000 t deals were concluded at $410-415/t CFR Chittagong. As per trade sources, demand remains active due to fluctuating global scrap offers along with active procurement from the large mills in Bangladesh.
