The major ferrosilicon producing state of India, Meghalaya, has experienced two phases of load shedding, one in February and the other in the earlier week of March, which forced the ferrosilicon smelters to cut production by around 40%. Meanwhile, if Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) fails to clear its dues to North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), the State is bound for a six-month-long load shedding for 24 hours every day.
