Eastern India mills sell sponge iron to Nepal

Recently, about 5,000 t sponge iron (P-DRI) export deals have been concluded to Nepal at the price range of $357-360/t exw Durgapur, Eastern India, the trade sources have reported to SteelMint. The landed cost of these to Nepal would be around $385-390/t CPT. Nepal’s monthly melting capacity is reported at 20,000-25,000 t, for which the country imports sponge iron from India. During CY ‘20, Nepal’s sponge iron imports from India stood at 160,500 t.
