Senior officials of state PSU miner Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) visited the Kurmitar iron ore mine recently ahead of commencement of enhanced production from the lease from 1 Apr ’21. Adani Enterprises had emerged as the MDO for the mine last year with an increased capacity of 6 mn t/year. However, Adani is expected to produce 4 mn t/pa for another 2 years till the automatic wagon loading system is in place. After capacity additions and inclusion of auctioned mines, SteelMint assesses OMC’s total capacity at 34 mn t/year.
