India: Contract negotiations underway between steel mills and auto manufacturers

India’s largest automaker accepts interim price hike proposed by steel mills

The largest automaker-Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), has agreed to give an interim correction of INR 7,350/t to steel producers, SteelMint learned from its well-placed sources. However, no official confirmation has been received by the company. This interim adjustment would be an additional payment on the contract prices for the current Jan-Mar quarter in order to factor in the big surge in steel prices. Talks with other auto manufacturers are ongoing.
