India: Meghalaya starts 9-hour power cuts

Meghalaya Electric Corporation Ltd (MeECL) began daily load-shedding of 9 hours in 3 shifts as the State owes INR 74.65 Cr to Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL). Since most of the ferrosilicon plants of India are in this region the production is expected to get hampered and ferrosilicon prices are set to rise. Meanwhile, most producers are currently not offering ferrosilicon as they are yet to decide on the offer prices.
