Bangladesh: Steel exports rise 83% y-o-y

Steel (largely semi-finished steel) exports from Bangladesh jumped by 83% y-o-y during Jul’20-Jan’21 totalling a worth of $68.08 mn, according to media reports. The main export destinations were UAE, India, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, Pakistan and Myanmar. Bangladesh, primarily imports scrap to produce intermediate casting products which need further processing to be turned into finished goods.
