Indian Sponge iron industries seem to be in some relief after struggling hard from last few years owing to restricted supply and high Iron ore prices in the domestic market.
SteelMint assessed that with increasing Pellet production in the country quite a lot of Sponge manufacturers have raised their Pellet consumption for DRI making.
Speaking to Sponge iron manufacturers based in Karnataka & West Bengal, which are the largest user of Pellet mentioned that Pellet consumption has risen significantly in last few years. With Pellet capacity increasing in India, it is bound to help manufacturers. They also anticipate that Iron ore lumps prices will be under pressure.
On the other hand, Sponge manufacturers of Odisha & Jharkhand are still reluctant to use Pellet.
