Govt owned steel-maker SAIL has scheduled an auction for 40,000 t mill scale sludge from its Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand. The auction is scheduled on 28 Jan’21 and the sale will be on a “as is where is” basis with a lifting period of 15 months. Mill scale sludge, which typically contains >65% of iron, oil and grease as well as heavy metals, can be recycled back into production through sintering or briquetting. Also, recycling mill scale sludge is vital to avoid landfilling as the metals-heavy waste is ecologically harmful.
