Odisha achieved April mining revenue target

Bhubaneswar:

Odisha has almost achieved mining revenue target for April 2013.While the
target for the month was Rs. 389.73 crore, the actual collection has been at
Rs.388.20 crore, a small margin of only Rs.1.53 crore. However, the collection
has posted a fall of 1.5 percent or Rs.5.95 crore. The mining revenue
collection in April 2012 was Rs. 394.15 crore.

After increasing
the annual iron ore production cap to 57 million tonnes per annum, Odisha now
hopes to increase its mining revenue collection in the current financial year.
Similarly, the Shah panel is scheduled to submit its report before July 16th
and after that it is expected that some mines would be allowed to be opened.

The
state's mining revenue collection was Rs.5352.94 crore in the recently concluded
2012-13 financial year and Rs.4586.64 crore in the 2011-12 financial year.
