EEPC India battling unprecedented increase in steel prices

Engineering exporter’s body EEPC India has sought government intervention to arrest the rise in steel prices. The engineering exporters, account for more than one-fourth of the country’s total merchandise exports, and comprises of mostly the MSMEs, which are battling the COVID-19 situation. As many as 29 out of 33 engineering panels exhibited a y-o-y decline in exports. The “unprecedented increase” in steel prices is making the situation for the engineering industry “unbearable”, EEPC India Chairman Mahesh Desai said.
