Indian iron ore export shipments picked up sharply in CY’20 to 40.7 mn t, as against 19.1 mn t in CY’19, according to the vessel line up data maintained with SteelMint. The exports have moved up on rising Chinese demand and increasing iron ore prices. The exports to China picked up to 38.12 mn t as compared to 16.56 mn t in CY’19. Yearly average global iron ore fines (Fe 62%) prices increased to $108/t CFR China in CY’20 as against $93.5/t CFR China in CY’19.
