Australia: NPC raises 4% Coal Shipment Target for March

Newcastle Port Corporation (NPC) raised its Coal shipment forecast by 4% and expecting to ship around 11.8 MnT Coal during the month of March.

NPC, the world’s leading Coking & Non-coking Coal exporting port have exported around 3.1 MnT during the last week ended on 03 Mar, 2014 which rose by 7% against preceding week. However during the February, around 13.2 MnT Coal has been exported from NPC port which slightly up compared to January.
During two months, NPC has shipped total around 26.4 MnT of Coal to the different part of the world in 2014. Whereas, in the same period of preceding year, NPC had shipped around 23 MnT Coal.

NPC exported around 148 MnT Coal in 2013
• NPC Shipped 13.2 MnT Coal in Jan’14
• NPC Shipped 1.2 MnT Coal in Feb’14 (till 3 Feb)
• W-o-W shipment rose by 15.3% to about 3.5 MnT
• Port targets to ship about 11.3 MnT of Coal in Feb’14
• Average ship waiting time is 3.43 days

On the basis of current situation, Port has reported that during the week ended on 3 Mar, 2014 total 32 vessels entered in the port for loading with an average waiting time of 2.34 days. Whereas in preceding week, same number of vessels entered at port with an average waiting time of 4.25 days.

At the end of the week, 5 vessels had loaded Coal at port, 4 vessels were waiting to load and 29 vessels were expected to reach at port.
