Today, the billet prices in the Tangshan market (northeast China) saw a steep rise. At present, the billet prices in Tangshan have deviated from the demand-supply fundamentals. The trading chain is relatively intact. However, the transactions are still active. But rolling mills in other regions are posing caution on procurement. The prices of commonly traded Q235 billet 150mm diameter were reported at RMB 4,000/t ($610/t) in Tangshan, inclusive of 13 % VAT. Prices have increased by RMB 300 ($46) since 19th Dec’20.
