India: Bids remain stable in SAIL-BSP’s recently-held defective steel auction

Steel Authority of India Limited conducted an auction from its central India based Bhilai Steel Plant for defective steel products on 15 Dec ’20. The auction received a decent response with a bid price at INR 30,500/t exw, stable compared to the last auction conducted on 05 Dec ’20.

A total quantity of 25,730 t defective steel was put up for auction, out of which 25,700 t (99.88%) was sold and only 30 t remained unsold. In the previous auction held on 05 Dec ’20, the share of total sold quantity was around (91.25%)

SteelMint’s billet index stood at INR 36,500/t exw Raipur on 15 Dec’20. Prices have increased in Dec’20 on improved trades and higher input costs.
