World’s fifth largest coal exporter, Colombia’s coal production for Q3 (Jul-Sep) CY20 was at 11 mn t against 20.8 mn t in Q3 CY19. This fall in production was due to COVID-led lockdown during Mar-Aug’20 and ongoing strike at Cerrejon mines. However, there is improvement of 13% against Q2 CY20 output of 9.7 mn t. In 2019, the country produced a total of 82.2 mn t of coal.
