Iran close to achieving 40 mn t pa crude steel capacity – IMIDRO

Iran’s steelmaking companies have achieved 39.82 mn t annual steel output, as per the recent data released by Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO). Mobarakeh Steel Company stood as the largest steelmaker, accounting 18% of total crude steel output with 7.2 mn t pa, followed by Khouzestan Steel Company with 3.8 mn t pa and Esfahan Steel Company with 2.4 mn t. Iran is set to become world’s sixth largest steel producer with a steelmaking capacity of 55 mn t pa, as per 20-Year National Vision Plan 2005-2025.
