A 30,000 tonnes of cargo vessel of shredded scrap from Australia is likely to get unloaded on 23rd June on Chennai port. According to industry sources cargo was booked by Suryadev alloys, a steel manufacturer based in Chennai and another two importers reportedly MTC and Tulsyan Metals.
Deal was done at around $408-409/MT CFR Chennai sometime in the month of May 2013 ,when Rupee was at around 54 levels against USD. Currently imported scrap offers are much lower and offers are in the range of $370/MT CFR Mumbai.
