Leading Swedish iron ore concentrates and pellet producer LKAB has announced that bio oil-based pellet production at one of its facilities is ready to commence, replacing coal and oil. In partnership with steel-maker SSAB and power major Vattenfall, LKAB has launched the HYBRIT project to create the world’s first fossil-free steel-making chain. The fossil-free pellets are the first step towards carbon-neutral steel-making, LKAB has informed.
