India: Bids in SAIL’s auction of defective steel increase by INR 350/t

Steel Authority of India Limited conducted an auction from its Bhilai Steel Plant for defective steel products on 23 Oct’20. The auction noticed an increase in bid prices compared to the last auction conducted on 14 Oct’20.

A total quantity of 22,806t defective steel was put up for auction, out of which 22,256t (97.58%) was sold and 550 t remained unsold. In the previous auction held on 14 Oct’20, share of total sold quantity was around (91.24%).

SteelMint’s price assessment for Raipur billet increased by around INR 600-700/t on 23rd Oct’20 compared to mid Oct’20. Prices have increased following hike in sponge iron prices and active trades.
