The steel ministry has extended the deadline for BIS certification of ferro silicon plants by six months from 23rd Oct to 23rd Apr 2021, as the process of inspection is delayed due to the partial lockdown and travel ban. Twelve plants have received the conformance certification. Yet, since India is a net importer of ferro silicon, this extension was highly expected.
