India: MSTC sold 4.7 MnT Iron ore in Jan’14 E-auctions

Metal Scrap Trade Corporation (MSTC), a Government of India Enterprises has sold 4.7 MnT of Iron ore in the month of January. This is the highest quantity of material sold by MSTC in FY14. 

In 2013, MSTC has sold 25 MnT of Iron ore in which JSW was the biggest buyer. JSW Purchased 15.8 MnT of Iron ore and meet their 70% requirement from Iron ore e-auction in this year and 30% from other states.

In Jan 2014

  • Iron ore sales increased from 2.1 MnT in Dec’13 to 4.7 MnT in Jan’14
  • JSW was the biggest buyer and purchase 2.5 MnT Iron ore
  • NMDC sold 1 MnT Iron ore and other mines sold 3.7 MnT
  • In January  2014, average fines prices stood at INR 2,666/MT and lumps at INR 2,635/MT (basic)
  • Sesa Sterlite set higher base price at INR 4,000/MT (basic) for Fe 58 fines on 31 Jan, 2014
