India’s crude steel production picked up marginally by 1.7% m-o-m to 8.62 mn t in Sep’20 on improved capacity utilisation, as per the data released by Joint Plant Committee (JPC). The same in the previous month (Aug’20) stood at 8.47 mn t. Total crude steel output in the H1 FY’21 totaled 42.8 mnt, a significant drop of 22% y-o-y as compared to 55 mn t during Apr-Sep’19, due to the pandemic.
