Japan: Ferrous scrap exports decline 8% m-o-m in Aug’20

Japan’s ferrous scrap exports decreased by 8% to 0.64 mn t in Aug’20 as against 0.70 mn t in Jul’20, as per SteelMint statistics. Vietnam continues to be the biggest buyer and imported 0.28 mn t in Aug’20, followed by South Korea and Taiwan. Drop-in exports attributed to tight availability, recovering domestic demand leading to high prices. Country’s scrap production in Jul’20 fell 3% m-o-m.
