India: SAIL’s auction of defective steel observes a marginal hike in bid prices

Steel Authority of India Limited conducted an auction from its central India based Bhilai Steel Plant for defective steel products on 22 Sep’20. The auction noticed a slight increase of INR 150/t in bid prices compared to the last auction conducted on 12 Sep’20.

A total quantity of 18,321 t defective steel was put up for auction, out of which 12,080 t (65.93%) was sold and 6,241 t remained unsold. In previous auction held on 12 Sep’20, share of total sold quantity was around (80.78%).

SteelMint’s price index for Raipur billet increased by INR 200/t d-o-d yesterday on active trades and stood at INR 29,450/t exw Raipur. However, on weekly premise prices have softened on limited inquiries.
