India: NMDC edges closer in resuming iron ore operations at Donimalai mine

In a major development, the Karnataka Cabinet has today cleared NMDC’s application to start mining operations at Donimalai mines. JC Madhuswamy, the State’s Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, told that the Cabinet decided to offer mining lease at Donimalai, provided the company clears the royalty dues and a new lease amount of INR 670 crore is to be paid over a year. Before halt in 2018, NMDC produced 6 mn t from Donimalai mines.
