India’s total Coking Coal imports increased by 22.8% to 0.97 MnT during the week ended on 25 Jan, 2014.
SteelMint assessed that, India has imported around 0.97 MnT of Coking Coal at the end of week 4, which has increased from 0.79 MnT of preceding week. Out of the total imported Coal, around 33% was Coking Coal comes from different destination.
Most of the Coking Coal is imported from, Australia, New Zealand & USA. Out of the total weekly imports, India has imported around 0.9 MnT of Coking Coal from Australia, about 0.05 MnT from New Zealand and imported around 0.04 MnT of Coking Coal from USA.
Considering 33 major and minor Indian ports, Gangavaram has imported maximum quantity i.e. around 0.23 MnT of Coal in Week 4. Contribution of quantity was given by RINL (Rastriya Ispat Nigam Limited) & JSPL (Jindal Steel Power Limited). Vizag, the second highest quantity port imported 0.17 MnT of Coking Coal belongs to SAIL & Bhushan Power.
SteelMint assessed that SAIL and Tata Steel are the major importers of Coking Coal last week. SAIL has imported about 0.27 MnT of Coking Coal from Australia, Newzeland & USA. Tata Steel has imported around 0.20 MnT from Australia.
The ports considered are: Dahej, Mormugao, Navlakhi, Mundra, Mumbai, New Mangalore, Hazira, Kandla, Bedi, Porbander, Dahanu, Dharmatar PnP, Dharamtar Ispat, Tuticorin, Jaigarh, Dighi, Revdanda, Magdalla, Pipavav GPPL, UTCL- Pipavav, Sanghi, Sikka, Okha, Muldwarka, Dhamra, Ennore, Gangavaram, Haldia, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada, Paradip, Vizag and Karaikal.
