Sweden based companies – SSAB, LKAB and Vattenfall has set up world’s first pilot plant for the production of fossil-free and carbon-di-oxide free sponge iron using HYBRIT technology. With this technology, the three companies aim to create a completely fossil-free value chain from the mine to finished steel. The HYBRIT initiative has the potential to reduce carbon-di-oxide emissions by 10% in Sweden and 7% in Finland.
