South Africa iron ore export shipments up marginally in July’20

South African iron ore export shipments in Jul’20 witnessed slight increase on a monthly basis to 4.34 mn t, against 4.20 mn t in June’20, according to bulk vessel line up data maintained with SteelMint.

South African export shipments to India continue to remain nil for the month
The total iron ore exports to India for the month continued to remain nil for the fourth consecutive month. Exports in the month of Mar’20 were at 0.11 mn t.

SteelMint’s assessment of South African imported lumps to India witnessed at $ 123-127/t, CNF Kandla as against $115-118/MT, CNF Kandla a month ago. As per market sources report to SteelMint, the prices for lumps are not viable due to high global prices and hence, booking for imported lumps have remained on the lower side. Port based plants are using domestic iron ore, pellets or scrap as their raw material feed.

South African export shipments to China rose marginally in July’20
South Africa’s total iron ore export to China for the month of July’20 recorded at 2.73 mn t, up marginally as compared to 2.64 mn t in June’20.
