Bhubaneswar: The Committee of Secretaries that was given responsibility to prepare an action taken report on the Shah Commission recommendations has reportedly submitted its report with the group of ministers. According to sources, the Group of Ministers (GoM) already has several discussions on report and it is expected that report will be submitted to the cabinet by the end of this month.
After getting cleared by the union cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, the action taken report along with the full Shah Commission report is expected to be presented before the Parliament in the upcoming ‘vote-on-account session’ starting 5 Feb, 2014.
The Shah report, has recommended for recovery of about INR 600 billion from the miners for increasing minerals illegally and as per reports the Union Environmental Ministry has given go ahead for the proposal on Thursday.
Experts say, if the state government acts upon the recommendations, mineral production from the largest Iron ore producer will be affected.
