India: Odisha chrome ore dispatches down by 5% m-o-m in July-20 on low production

Indian chrome ore dispatches are marginally down by 5% m-o-m in Jul’20. With the ongoing monsoons, the production of chrome ore has been heavily affected. The production has been affected since March, first due to lockdown restrictions and labour unavailability and now because of the monsoons.

TATA Steel has no production since Apr-20 and is fulfilling past orders from the stock-in-hand. Meanwhile, OMC couldn’t mine the required quantity to conduct auctions for the past two months, whereas, Misirlall mines remained the largest miner in Jul-20

Major Buyers:
Jindal Stainless and IMFA remained the two biggest buyers of chrome ore in Jul-20. IMFA mostly procured from their captive mines.
