China reduces steel scrap usage by 8.9% in Q1 CY ’20: BIR

China’s steel scrap usage for crude steel production fell to 41.53 mn t, as compared to 45.60 mn t for the same period in 2019, down by 8.9% Y-o-Y, due to growing covid-19 pandemic since Jan this year, reported BIR in its latest quarterly update. However, China still remained the world’s largest steel scrap user during this period, owning to its humongous Steel making capacity.
