In the latest quarterly update of BIR, it has been estimated that ferrous scrap demand in India will remain subdued for the rest of this year, before greater normality is expected to return in the first or second-quarter of 2021. Most consumers of steel, durables and vehicles have cut spending, while domestic steel mills are facing cash-flow issues, consequently impacting scrap demand.
