Crude steel output of 64 countries decreased by 6% y-o-y in H1 CY ’20 to 873.134 mn t compared to 928.425 mn t in H1 CY ’19, as per figures released by WSA. Dull demand and curtailed production due to pandemic led to decline in steel output from majority of countries. However, China’s output increased by 1% to 499 mn t in H1 CY ’20.
