Imported scrap market to South East Asia continued to rise for another week, as buyers from Vietnam and Indonesia are active in the buying activities, while very limited trades were observed in Thailand and Taiwan during the last week.
Vietnam: Imported scrap prices to Vietnam remained almost sable this week with only few deals getting concluded from Japan, While, Japan’s domestic scrap prices have witnessed slight uptick last week in Kanto region. Offers from USA also strengthened this week.
Japanese H2 scrap offers in bulk to Vietnam remained almost stable in the range of $260-265/t to South & North Vietnam. Recently, fresh deal has been concluded at $262/t CFR price level.
Fresh offers for the other higher grades from Japan such as HS and Shindhachi now stood in the range of $ 290-295/t CFR Vietnam, increasing by around $7-12 against $283/t were reported in last week’s report. In the last week of closing, a deal was getting concluded at $ 282/t CFR Vietnam for Japanese HS scrap.
On the other hand, USA origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) in bulk remained at $270/t CFR Vietnam since last few weeks.
Indonesia: Indonesian scrap market witnessed active last week, as buyers are inquiring for imported scrap offers, while trades were very limited throughout the week.
P&S scrap were reported in 20 ft containers being offered in the range of $282-283/t CFR for 40ft and $287/t CFR Jakarta for 20ft container, up by $2-3/t against last week’s offers.
For busheling scrap, some deals were reported at $293/t CFR, increasing sharply against last week’s offers. Fresh offers for busheling scrap being offered at in the range of $290-295/t CFR Jakarta.
This week offers for shredded 211 to Indonesia stood at $270-275/t CFR Jakarta, while deals were not reported in this price level.
Thailand: Australian origin HMS slightly up last week and the offers for HMS 1&2 (80:20) stood at $250/t CFR Thailand, up by $5/t against last week’s report.
Taiwan: HMS 1&2 (80:20) bids by Taiwanese steelmakers were reported at $240/t CFR Kaohsiung, while offers for the same were reported at $ 245/t CFR.
