Indonesia: Billet imports drop 3.8% in Jan-May’20 on falling shipments from Middle East

Indonesian billet imports fell 35.6% from 341,354 t in Apr’20 to 219,747 t in May’20. Imports from Middle East declined a staggering 48.2% to touch only 217,935 t in Jan-May’20 from 420,380 t in Corresponding Period Last Year (CPLY) due to exports sanctions in Iran and a government mandate on mills to sell 25% of production in the domestic market.
