Iron and steel imports by Indonesia during Jan-Apr’20 decreased by 14.1% y-o-y to 2.04 mn t as compared to Jan-Apr’19, Indonesian Iron & Steel Industry Association reported. This decline was the result of various government policies issued to control imports in order to protect the domestic steel industry amid pandemic that has badly hit the nation’s economy.
