Japan: Q2 crude steel output estimated to drop to 11-year low

Japan’s crude steel output is forecast to fall 27.9% in July-Sept’20 to its lowest since 2009 as the pandemic continues to weigh on demand from key buyers, especially automakers. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry estimates crude steel output to be 17.7 mn t during Q2 FY21 compared with 24.55 mn t in the same period last year.
