The Justice M.B.Shah Commission constituted
for investigating into the illegal mining, which has completed its investigation in Odisha recently, has submitted its report to the
Union Mines Ministry today. According to some sources the commission has
submitted the part-I of the final report consisting of 1500 pages. The probe
panel will submit part-II of the report in a later date.
has not been known yet, as per some sources the panel has found some
indications on illegal mining in the state and has included the same in its
report.
constituted the Shah panel headed by Justice M.B.Shah on November 2010 for
carrying out investigation into the multimillion-dollar illegal mining cases in
several mineral-bearing states including Odisha. Initially the tenure of the
commission was to expire on July 2012, but later it had been extended till 16th
July 2013. The commission has visited Odisha several times for investigation on
the illegal mining cases.
Previously on basis on Shah commission's report, the Supreme Court had banned mining activities in Karnataka and Goa.
