Indonesia’s energy ministry lowers coal production target citing declining exports

The Indonesian coal mining association (APBI) has advised the country’s energy ministry (ESDM) to reduce coal mining companies’ output by 40-50 mn t during Jun-Dec’20 to prevent a potential oversupply amid weak demand from domestic powerhouses and major export markets of China and India. Indonesian coal export prices will likely remain at low levels this year due to Covid-19-led demand slump.
