The Ministry of Ecology and Environment, China has banned the imports of solid waste from 2021 and the new scrap import standards to be implemented in 2021. However, ferrous scrap has been exempted from the same, with Chinese steel mills having strong demand of raw material for steelmaking and imported scrap being available at low-cost.
