Bangladesh: Ship Breaking prices remain stable; deals reported

Bangladesh ship breaking market has observed stability in terms of prices this week. According to the price assessment, the prices in Bangladesh stood at $310/LT for Containers, $290/LT for Dry bulk and $300/LT for Tanker.

While the demand in the Bangladesh market has remained at a decent level as Chattogram based buyers are still active.

Two Indonesian containers deal from SPIL units reported last week on an en bloc basis.
– ARMADA PURNAMA (5,253 LDT) at $303/LT.
– HIJAU TERANG (3,926 LDT) at $303/LT.

The total tonnage reported last week in the Chattogram port was at 173,172 LDT.

While in recent days, Bangladeshi buyers have managed to get back into the throw with some decent purchases. As per SteelMint, a PHP Family, has bought a VLOC Vessel of 266,000 dwt for breaking from Eastern Pacific Shipping, at $274/LT, discounted price on account of its Green Recycling compliant yard (as shown in the picture below).

Prices of India & Pakistan

— In India, the prices stood at $295/LT for Containers, $275/LT for Dry bulk and $285/LT for Tanker. The total tonnage reported last week in the Alang port was at 228,832 LDT.

— The prices in Gadani port for containers reached at $315/LT, Dry Bulk at $300/LT & Tankers at $305/LT. The total tonnage reported last week in the port was at 78,133 LDT.
