Inland waterways unlock sponge iron supply to Bangladesh

With congestion in the land border, the first consignment of sponge iron, about 1,100 t loaded by Bunty Overseas, has left for Bangladesh through inland waterways. The first vessel carrying 1,098 t of sponge iron and quartz sailed from GR jetty in Kolkata and will reach Narayangunj, near Dhaka in Bangladesh in the next 7-8 days, thereby opening a clogged channel during the lockdown.
