Shri Bajrang Power and Ispat Ltd (SBPIL) – Raipur, Central India’s major merchant sponge supplier in spot market is going to resume operations from tomorrow (i.e. 29 Apr’20).
The plant has four kilns in which the total installed capacity of sponge iron is about 1,700 TPD, equivalent to 0.5 MnT pa.
As per officials, initially they will operate three kilns which will produce about 1,200-1,300 TPD sponge iron, equivalent to 0.4 MnT pa.
In addition to this the plant is also looking to restart rolling-mill, which will make about 500 TPD finished steel products. Thus, out of total sponge iron production more than 50% material will be supplied in the merchant market, while remaining will be for captive consumption.
The company makes premium grades rebar & other finished steel products which are mostly supplied in project works.
