India: Finish Long Steel Production Increases 9.8% in Feb’20

India’s gross Finished long steel production (non-alloy) moved up by 9.8% to 4.37 MnT in Feb’20 against 3.98 MnT in Jan’20, as per the custom data maintained with SteelMint.

Also on a yearly basis production surged by 21.7% in Feb’20 against 3.59 MnT in Feb’19.

Company Wise

— Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) stood as top producer with 0.51 MnT in Feb’20, up 21.4% against 0.42 MnT in Jan’20.

— Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd. (RINL) produced 0.31 MnT in Feb’20 (+14.8%) against 0.27 MnT in Jan’20.

— JSW Steel registered output of 0.27 MnT in Feb’20, down by 10% against 0.30 MnT in Jan’20.

— TATA Steel produced 0.26 MnT in Feb’20, down by 7.14% as compared to 0.28 MnT in Jan’20.

— Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL) marked 0.22 MnT in Feb’20, up by 10% as compared to 0.20 MnT in Jan’20.

— The medium and small scale mills production surged by 11.5% to 2.80 MnT in Feb’20 as compared to 2.51 MnT in Jan’20.

Commodity wise-

Under finish long steel commodities, following HS codes have been considered – Bar & Rod (HS Code 7213 & 7214), MS Wire (HS Code 7217) along with Angle & Shapes (HS Code 7215 & 7216).

— Bar and Rod production increased by 6.4% to 3.49 MnT in Feb’20 against 3.28 MnT in Jan’20.

— Structure production was registered at 0.72 MnT in Feb’20, up by 35.8% from 0.53 MnT in Jan’20.

— Railway material production was around 0.16 MnT in Feb’20 (-5.9%) as compared to 0.17 MnT in Jan’20.
