Operations at Haldia port, West Bengal have been stopped after a worker at the port tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). It was reported that operations were suspended from today morning.
SteelMint learned from its close sources that an operator at Haldia port today was confirmed as a coronavirus positive case. After confirmation of a positive case, the port announced suspension of operations for a time being.
Kolkata port trust is the authority of this port.
India exported around 19 MnT iron ore in CY19, out of which 2 MnT was from Haldia port.
Talking about operations at other eastern India based ports, cargo operations at other ports are taking place however due to less labors there is a slight slow down.
